Governor Rick Perry deliberately kills the Texas Bill that would protect the 4^th Amendment.

That is he made sure the Texas TSA Anti-Groping Bill would never make it into law.

Dear Joe,

The defeat of the TSA Anti-Groping Bill in Texas is heartbreaking.

And the dirty tricks used by Texas’ Republican leadership can seem devastating…

But this is not the end.

We will not give up.  We’ll be back in other states and we’ll make them regret their actions in Texas!

Before I explain the nitty-gritty, I should make it clear who deserves some political pain:

Gov. Rick Perry, Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst, and Speaker Joe Straus.

As Dave Nalle, an Austin liberty activist, put it, it’s a carnival trick.  There are “three hollow coconut halves and a large marble.”

The marble is the TSA bill, and the three coconut halves are named Perry, Dewhurst, and Straus.

“Hands continually shuffle or pass the TSA bill marble under the hollow coconut halves, hiding it from the eyes of you, the public, the citizens of Texas.”

But what, specifically, did these scoundrels do?

As David Simpson said, their manipulations were so masterful they “managed to arrange it so that every member could cast a vote in support of a bill which they ensured would not pass.”

And all three can claim they oppose TSA groping while guaranteeing the bill to end it was defeated…

After the bill passed unanimously through the Texas House, the TSA wrote a stern letter to the Texas legislature claiming it would be forced to impose a no-fly zone upon the state of Texas.

An act of political war for states’ rights minded liberty activists.

But for Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst, it was an excuse to begin single-handedly “peeling off the votes” needed to pass the bill through the state Senate.

What makes his treachery so jarring was what happened as the special session called to take care of unfinished business came to order.

Dewhurst wrote a letter to Governor Perry urging him to add it to special session. The letter was widely publicized.

So kill the bill behind the scenes, but broadcast your loving support all over Texas.

Genius…

But establishment politicians didn’t take over our country by being stupid.

Expectedly, Gov. Rick Perry, who controls what bills are put on the agenda for the special session, did not immediately heed the call of Dewhurst’s political theater.

In fact, he waited, and waited… and waited some more.

An open records request showed over 10,000 individual pieces of correspondence received by the governor’s office in favor of the anti-groping bill.

And finally he acted.

But you see, he had waited long enough. He knew it wouldn’t have the time to pass with only 2 short weeks in the special session without special assistance for the legislative leaders who control the rules.

Now the marble was passed to Speaker Joe Straus.

The Speaker of the House controls the rules in the state House. And rules are where bills go to die.

Parliamentary procedure is an Orwellian whirlwind tyrants use to spin you into confusion.

I won’t go into all the details here, but don’t be fooled.

Speaker Straus knew what he was doing.

He purposefully delayed, first by adjourning when the bill was scheduled to be considered and then by making sure it would be bunched up on the final day of the session – guaranteeing failure. His best trick was that by waiting until the last day he could bring the anti-groping bill up under a special rule that requires a 4/5ths majority (80%!) to pass.

After the TSA and statist politicians started opposing it, even the wildly popular anti-groping bill didn’t have 80% support.

So what do we take away from all of this?

Who would have thought 4 years ago that this bill would even be introduced? The fact that they had to go to such extraordinary lengths to stop us should confirm our commitment to this fight.

Already Utah and other states are moving on their own anti-groping legislation.

And the opposition to the out-of-control TSA grows with every report of assault, theft, and naked radiation scanning.

We’re stronger than ever before.

And they’re afraid.

For those activists in Texas who fought so valiantly, take a break, relax and refresh, and then come back ready to hold them accountable when they next face the voters.

The argument is that “It’s a small price to pay to keep us safe in the air!”

The reality is our TSA does not keep us safe.

Case in point:

My 21 year old daughter who happens to be a very cute red head, is heading off to Salt Lake City. She is traveling alone. My wife and I are required to stay beyond the the TSA barrier. From a distance of about 30 yards we can see she is detained.

I ask a TSA supervisor near us what was going on and his reply: “She probably did not have her papers in order” (no kidding!)

After my daughter cleared the check point we got the details. ALL other passengers had been allowed to go through the metal detector. My daughter was singled out to go through the Body Scanners. She asked why she can not go through the metal detector like the others.

She is not given an answer and told if she refuses to go through the AIT (body scanner) she will be subjected to an “Enhanced Pat-Down” (a.k.a. “Threatened to be molested”).

So, this begs the question “How is TSA keeping us Safe”

Clearly, this little red head (my daughter) was a visible threat and needed to go through the scanner –  right?

Or was it that those lumbering perverted TSA agents decided they needed some kicks and singled out the prettiest girl in the vicinity?

I will be so bold (like it’s a stretch) to say it is the latter. Which leads to this, that Everyone MUST be subjected to the AIT’s (body scanners).

Leaving the safety (decision of who is a threat) of the airways in the hands of some ignorant perverts whose sole motivation is to get their twisted fantasies kicked into high gear is unacceptable and the only logical solution is that everyone have the exact same interrogation.

Now, what will come of everyone having to “submit” to Scanners? No doubt, we will get a push back from the dumbed down Fox News Zombies and maybe… maybe some calls to US Congress to rein in the Police State.

These folks will have to do a reality check and ask, “Is It Really A Small Price to Pay?”

And as a side note: How has the Fox News coverage been on DOJ Holder threatening to ban flights to Texas if “TSA Anti-Groping Bill” not killed?

Dear Joe,

Politicians taking away your liberty is not Patriotic.

Patriotism does not mean allowing the federal government to ransack your life whenever it feels like it.

In fact, what you and I clearly need is protection from a runaway, out of control, abusive government.

That’s why the badly misnamed “Patriot” Act is not the Act of Patriots.

It is the act of petty bureaucrats seeking more and more power and control over not only our country, but every aspect of our lives.

For 10 years now, the so-called “Patriot” Act has been eroding our freedom and growing the federal government into a surveillance state.

And year after year, it gets renewed, almost always without a fight.

But this year is different.

In early February, the U.S. Senate tried to ram through a THREE-YEAR extension of expiring provisions of the Patriot Act.

Even worse, they tried to slip it through without a vote, as they’ve done in previous years.

Thankfully, the work of Liberty activists like you paid off – newly elected Senator Rand Paul stood up and said “STOP.”

They were only allowed to pass a 90-day extension, and within the 90 days, there is to be a full week of debate and Amendments on the Senate floor.

So in ninety days, the statists will have to go on the record for or against the Bill of Rights.

And I’m for making a stir to bring attention to their actions.  A BIG STIR.

How about you?

If you agree, I’m asking you to IMMEDIATELY put the heat on your senators.

TODAY.  There isn’t a moment to lose.

This is our chance to show why the Patriot Act is UNPATRIOTIC. But you and I must act immediately.

We’ve all heard the defenses.  How the Patriot Act was needed to combat “terrorism.”  How it would not be used against U.S. citizens.

How it would not be abused.

These lies have all been clearly exposed.  For 10 years, the American people have ignored the wisdom of our Founding Fathers and traded freedom for a false sense of security.  As predicted, both are worse off as a result.

And now, the statists in Congress and the White House are set to reauthorize the so-called “Patriot” Act.

For years, even talk about a window-dressing “reform” bill has gone nowhere.

The Mainstream Media, fixated on Obama, won’t report on how the Patriot Act has run roughshod over our liberties.

Frankly, you and I know the Patriot Act should be completely scrapped to block federal snoops from casting fishing nets over the lives, histories, and data of hardworking Americans.

But unless you and I act today, this won’t happen, and the Patriot Act will be reauthorized, maybe for another 3 years.  Maybe permanently.

The weak link for the snoop-state insiders remains the U.S. Senate – where one Big Government boondoggle after another has been bottled up or defeated.

But my contacts in the Senate say right now there’s a growing chorus of opposition to the Patriot Act being heard.

They say some are willing to fight.  Some even admit privately it was a mistake supporting it the first time when President Bush demanded it in the wake of the outrage following the 9/11 attacks.

And, of course, Senator Paul has already thrown down the gauntlet and said he will lead this fight.

But not enough senators will stand up and take this battle head on unless there is a shout of opposition from the American people.

That’s why I urge you to let your senators hear from you immediately.

If not, we’ll see a whole lot more of what we’ve witnessed over the last 10 years:

• Federal and State law enforcement on fishing expeditions, searching telephone, email, medical, financial, and other records looking for a needle in a haystack – and abridging the freedom of law-abiding citizens everywhere;
• Warrantless searches and roving wiretaps, paying telephone providers for access to TRILLIONS of phone records, and ignoring 4th amendment protections;
• Broad new powers for the Treasury Department and Immigration Department to rewrite regulations, access records, and conduct proceedings in secret;
• Holding American citizens without their constitutional rights simply because someone in the government has declared them an “enemy combatant”;
• Vast amounts of electronic data on virtually every American swept up by insider arrangements and purchases from phone companies, airlines, and other businesses afraid to say no to a government “request.”

As you well know, this isn’t some conspiracy theory. This is happening. Every day.

And you and I can help put an end to it.

One of the most egregious abuses of the Constitution, using the Patriot Act as its basis, is so-called “National Security letters,” used commonly by the FBI.

DHS Announces “If You See Something, Say Something” Campaign at Super Bowl XLV.

Over the past six months, DHS has worked with its federal, state, local and private sector partners, as well as the Department of Justice, to expand the “If You See Something, Say Something” campaign and the Nationwide Suspicious Activity Reporting (SAR) Initiative—an administration effort to train state and local law enforcement to recognize behaviors and indicators related to terrorism, crime and other threats; standardize how those observations are documented and analyzed; and expand and enhance the sharing of those reports with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and DHS—to communities throughout the country. The “If You See Something, Say Something” campaign has recently been launched in Minnesota and New Jersey, as well as to more than 9,000 federal buildings nationwide, Walmart, Mall of America, the American Hotel & Lodging Association, Amtrak, the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, the sports and general aviation industries, and state and local fusion centers across the country.

In the coming months, DHS will continue to expand the “If You See Something, Say Something” campaign nationally with public education materials and outreach tools designed to help America’s businesses, communities and citizens remain vigilant and play an active role in keeping the country safe.

Besides, who is really doing the fear-mongering? I happened to flip on Fox and Friends this morning, and in just five minutes I must have heard Terrorist Threat mentioned 20 times.

Shocker: Citizen Spy Networks to be Given Immunity

New York Republican Peter King has introduced a bill that would protect the army of citizen spies Homeland Security hopes to recruit under Janet Napolitano’s “See Something, Say Something” snoop campaign from lawsuits brought by innocent people wrongly accused of being terrorists or extremists.

“A top US lawmaker unveiled legislation on Wednesday to protect individuals who tip off authorities to potential extremist threats from lawsuits, in the event that they turn out to finger innocents,” reports AFP.

House Homeland Security Chairman King, who is pushing the “See Something, Say Something Act,” wants to shield “good citizens who report suspicious activity” from facing the consequences of misidentifying innocent behavior as extremism or terror.

Of course, this will only encourage untrained people to report any behavior whatsoever, no matter how benign, as potential terrorism, creating an army of enthusiastic but hapless citizen spies.

“King said his bill would extend protections from individuals “who report suspicious activity anywhere,” adds the report, making reference to the DHS’ “See Something, Say Something” campaign, which characterizes paying for things with cash as a suspicious activity.

The program was launched with the aid of Orwellian telescreens at Wal-Mart checkouts that play a message from Homeland Security chief Janet Napolitano encouraging Americans to report anything unusual to Wal-Mart managers. The program was subsequently expanded to include 9,000 federal buildings, as well as sports stadiums, businesses and communities in general.

DHS will no longer be limited to the airport in the form of the TSA, but will become a ubiquitous entity policing everyone through a network of citizen spies and infrastructure security technology. The agency will also assume the mantle of regulating Americans’ every behavior and activity. DHS signs are already in place all over the country telling people where they can and can’t park their cars.

As we have documented, every historical example of such informant programs illustrates that they never lead to a more secure society, but instead breed suspicion, distrust, fear and resentment amongst the population. The only “benefit” that such programs have ever achieved is allowing the state to more easily identify and persecute political dissidents, while discouraging the wider population from engaging in any criticism against the government.

Since its official launch, the See Something, Say Something campaign has successfully wasted thousands of dollars of taxpayer money after people reported half-empty flasks of coffee and bags of clothes as deadly threats that required a response from bomb squads.

Of course, as we have documented, the federal government is fully aware of the fact that Americans are just as likely to be killed by lightning strikes, peanut allergies or accident-causing deer than they are by terrorists.

See Something, Say Something has little to do with combating terrorism, and everything to do with implanting the notion that Americans are constantly under surveillance from each other and may be reported to the authorities for any minor example of aberrant behavior no matter how benign.

In addition, since the Department of Homeland Security has characterized political activism which targets the state as extremist and terrorist activity, Americans are being trained that exercising their constitutional rights could get them in hot water with the law should their behavior be deemed suspicious by ignorant wannabe citizen spies who see themselves as terrorist hunters.

In an ironic twist, Rep. King, who is now trying to protect snoops who identify innocent behavior as extremism from lawsuits, was one of the primary co-sponsors of a 2009 House resolution that attempted to get answers as to why Homeland Security equated veterans, gun owners, Ron Paul supporters, and people who fly the U.S. flag, with violent terrorists, following the release of the agency’s infamous MIAC report.

NARRATOR: So far, DHS has spent more than $420 million on the nation’s fusion centers. The idea is built around cops on the beat. They are supposed to feed the system intelligence about possible terrorists.

Monitoring America

Nine years after the terrorist attacks of 2001, the United States is assembling a vast domestic intelligence apparatus to collect information about Americans, using the FBI, local police, state homeland security offices and military criminal investigators.

The system, by far the largest and most technologically sophisticated in the nation’s history, collects, stores and analyzes information about thousands of U.S. citizens and residents, many of whom have not been accused of any wrongdoing.

The government’s goal is to have every state and local law enforcement agency in the country feed information to Washington to buttress the work of the FBI, which is in charge of terrorism investigations in the United States.
