Does Anyone Listen to Rahm Emanuel?

February 14, 2009

in Liberty

Remember Rahm Emanuel’s comment regarding “crisis”?…

First, take the awareness test to make sure you are paying attention.

Known as “Inattentional Blindness” or “Perceptual Blindness”…

Take this second test of awareness…

Did You “See the Moon-Walking Bear”?
“You never want a serious crisis to go to waste. And what I mean by that is an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before.”

i.e. – don’t miss an opportunity to get people to do more than just “go shopping” like Bush’s entire solution to the 911 crisis. Least that’s what it means to me. The way he phrased it lends itself to a perfect glass half full/empty situation.

Whereas if you are predisposed to hate everything that comes out of Emanuel’s mouth, he just gave you a lay up with this statement.

But don’t think for a second he cares if anyone decides to take it the wrong way. It doesn’t matter. It gives no traction to the opposition. It’s a non sequitur.

    Thanks for the reply Jack
I believe both (this and the last administration) are opportunist…
Hence we have the “patriot act” and next the 2nd amendment goes…

People move towards what they feel to be secure in times of crisis which often is Big Brother. This is a sad situation.

    Where does it stop?

Dude – I’m as big of a 2nd amendment supporter as anyone. I voted for Obama and have absolutely no fear whatsoever that he’s going after the 2nd. If he does, it will not go far. I believe the fear of losing gun rights comes up whenever a democrat is in office and nothing has ever seriously threatened the 2nd in the end.

It’s not that we should not monitor the situation at all times – we’re supposed to be involved in our govt anyway as a rule – but with all the issues there are to talk about, it doesn’t seem like a wise use of time to worry about something this country is never going to let go of.

Trust me – there are a lot of people like me who hold dear the 2nd. We can vote for a Dem and still care about a lot of the same things.

    Jack,
To be clear.. I have NO problem with People that are Dems…
Some of my closest friends and family members are and they are God fearing Patriots

My problem with the Dem’s platform is the “Life” part
I am Republican as Ron Paul is…if he was to switch parties and keep his personal platform I will follow him.

We are a nation giving up our constitutional rights because of “fear mongering” on both sides of the aisle.
This process we use now is a “Democracy” and the Founders wanted a “Republic”
